Software Selection Advisory

Before you sign a five-year licence, find out whether you need new software at all. CodeFish gives independent advice on whether to keep, connect, replace or build — no reseller margins, no platform to push.

Vendors demo the happy path. Your business runs on the exceptions. CodeFish maps how your work actually moves, lists what the software has to handle and tests every option against it. We don't resell any platform or take referral fees, so you get a recommendation you can defend to the board, even when it's 'keep what you have'.

The licence is the smallest cost you'll sign.

What a wrong software pick costs you

A system that doesn't fit shows up within months as workarounds: spreadsheets beside the ERP, orders keyed twice, reports nobody trusts. You still pay every seat every year, on top of implementation, data migration, customisation, training and your team's time on the project. Unwinding it means paying for a second migration. Testing each option against your real processes first means you pay for the decision once.

Keep, connect, replace or build

Every selection should weigh all four, not just the shortlist the vendors handed you.

Keep

The system works and the pain is somewhere else: a broken process, poor training or a missing report. Fixing that costs far less than a migration.

Connect

Your systems are fine on their own but don't talk. An integration removes the re-keying without changing what anyone uses day to day.

Replace

The system can't support how you work now, or support is ending. We write the requirements and score the vendors against your real processes.

Build

The work that sets you apart doesn't fit any package. A custom layer on top of an off-the-shelf core is usually the right split.

When you don't need us

Skip us if you've already chosen the system and only need it wired into the rest of your stack. That's ERP integration, and it starts from a decision you've made. Skip us too if you're swapping one small tool for a clear market leader; a free trial will tell you more than a workshop. We earn our fee when the system sits at the centre of how your work moves, the contract runs for years and a wrong pick would cost you a second migration.

How a software selection runs

Rapid Insight Workshop

Two sessions with your key people, mapping how work really moves and where today's systems fall short. Around three weeks later you get a keep, connect, replace or build recommendation.

Requirements and shortlist

If replacing is the call, we write the requirements from the workshop map and shortlist the vendors that fit.

Scripted demos and costing

Each vendor runs your scenarios on your data. We score them and cost five years of ownership side by side.

Implement and connect

We connect the chosen system to the rest of your stack and build anything it can't do, through Amplify or Apex.

What software selection advice costs

Every selection starts with a Rapid Insight Workshop at a fixed $9,000 + GST: two sessions with your team, then a keep, connect, replace or build recommendation around three weeks later. If replacing is the call, the requirements, shortlist and vendor scoring are scoped and quoted from what the workshop finds. You know that price before any of it starts, and you sign a five-year contract knowing what it will really cost.

Software selection questions we get asked

A software selection consultant who doesn't resell or take referral fees from any platform. No vendor pays CodeFish, so we have no reason to steer you towards one, and 'keep what you have' is a real answer here.

ERPs, job management, inventory and warehouse systems, CRMs and the industry platforms that run food and beverage, construction and manufacturing businesses. If it sits at the centre of how your work moves, we can assess it.

More than the licence. Implementation, data migration, customisation, integrations, training and your own team's time usually outweigh the subscription. We cost all of it side by side so you compare the full number, not the quote.

We connect it to the rest of your stack and build what it can't do through Amplify or Apex. Where a vendor or partner does the core implementation, we work alongside them so the integrations and custom work are ready when it goes live.

The first answer takes about three weeks after two workshop sessions with your team. That is when you get a keep, connect, replace or build recommendation with the costs behind it. If you then go to market, the requirements and vendor scoring come with a timeframe before they start.

Yes, on either side. If you are running the tender, we write the requirements, score the responses and test vendor claims against how your business works. If you are bidding, we assess the technical options and write the solution and costed approach for your response. Either way the advice is independent, because we sell no platform.

Buy when standard workflows fit how you work; it is quicker and the vendor carries the upkeep. Build when the process is what sets you apart or every package forces workarounds. The workshop tells you which side of that line you sit on, before you sign anything.

Keeping your ERP? Connect what sits around it instead of customising inside it.

Often the answer is to keep your ERP and stop asking it to do everything. We connect the CRM, warehouse and job systems around it, so orders and stock live in one place and nobody re-keys them. You keep the licence you already paid for and get the hours back.
